[CASL-L] Kindergarten Library Orientation

I'm also a big fan of reading fun books with the "littles" to reinforce how
joyful reading is!

Today I asked the kindergarteners if they had ever been to a library and at
least 80% had so we didn't do too much talking about what a library is. We
read DO NOT BRING YOUR DRAGON TO THE LIBRARY (Gassman) and shared a few
ideas about how we would keep our bodies safe. (ie, no running and
shouting because this is a classroom for learning, not a gym or a
playground). The other books I was going to read are THE COLOR MONSTER
GOES TO SCHOOL and THE COLOR MONSTER and then have the kiddos draw a
monster of their own! I put out a pile of books for them on the table and
on the floor and ask them to show me how to read a book and if they can
show me that they can read it and turn pages carefully I would let them
check out a book. Yes, they all checked out one book today! 💗
