I was looking for state books last year and all the series were on a middle school reading level, but I found one by ABDO Publishing that I purchased and really like. The books are divided well for researching a state and many students also check out the books for pleasure reading. The pictures are attractive with nice captions and each book has a fast facts section that the students find easy to read. The books are all around a 4th grade reading level. I would definitely recommend the entire series. It was well worth it to update my states books which were all from 1992 and 1988 prior to this purchase.
