A Dewey Parade ~ 641.5 Cookery ~ helped lead the Park Road parade in West Hartford recently.  Our granddaughter attends Kindergarten at Smith School, a science and technology magnet school, and Smith School was marching.  Nella of course wanted Papa (her grandfather) to march with her.  So...  retired school librarian that I am, I was quickly set to task to find a perfect science costume.    AHA, thought I, 600’s Applied Science would be the perfect entrée.”  So, Papa donned  an apron, with frontal pocket stuffed with kitchen utensils, and of course a very large name tag identifying him as a 641.5 Cookery  entrant.   It seems, retired librarians never say die or lose an opportunity to march in time for Melvil Dewey.  Nor should you… You can have your own Dewey Parade with your students!
