Tech Tools Update – June 19th (Willimantic LSC)
Need a chance to catch up with the ever-changing stream of new (and not so news) tech tools? There's always something new that sounds interesting, fun and maybe even useful! But sometimes it's hard to find time to test them out and figure out what to do with them. During this workshop we'll look at social media services that can help you connect with your community, as well as productivity tools that can help you during your workday. You'll have a chance to explore lots of tools (new and old!) and share ideas with your colleagues. You'll come away with some new tips and tricks in your tool-kit and and decide which tools are right for you, your library, your community. Topics covered will include: Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other electronic elements (QR codes, cloud computing, etc.) No question is too silly, bring them all!!

Connecting with & Serving your Digital Community - June 21st (Bristol PL)
Your library has a web site and most likely a Facebook page and maybe you're using Twitter to connect with your community as well. But what else could you be doing with these tools, and others, to better connect with and meet the needs of your online community? Are there new tools that you might want to test out? Are you tracking the use of the services you're already using? Are there other ways to make your library's services and resources more visible beyond the library website by collaborating with community partners? What tools can you use to easily share information with your community? During this workshop we'll look at all these topics and more. Come prepared to share your own experiences, ask questions, explore and have fun!

ONLINE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

June OCLC/WebJunction Webinars:

OCLC: Best Kept Secret: Marketing the Small & Rural Library - June 7th (Online)
Is your small or rural library the community's best kept secret? Libraries are not known for "tooting their own horns" so valuable services and resources go unnoticed. Join us for a webinar, hosted by WebJunction in collaboration with the Association for Rural and Small Libraries, to learn about marketing and branding and what it means to the 21st century small and rural library. Michelle and Melinda will talk about ways to build mutually beneficial business partnerships that result in free media advertising as well as sponsorship for events and services. These marketing techniques are guaranteed to lead to long term development opportunities as well as sustainability.  For additional details and registration information visit: http://bit.ly/JwfFxd
