Kathleen, have you explored the curriculum resources and common core crosswalks listed on the CASL Ning Resources?  The Common Core Crosswalk is helpful as well as NY's Common Core Toolkit.  Check out NY's Standards & Curriculum page and their Common Core alignments by grade.  You can align CC expectations with the disciplines you mentioned.  Once you know the CC reading & writing standards, you can find links to any curricula.

Look at the 6th Grade writing and reading CC standards and align them with the subject standards you mentioned.  Go to the national associations for each discipline: AAHPERD website for the PE standards, focus on standards 2 and 6;  the ARTSEDGE website lists standards for music (check standards 6-9) and art (check standards 4-6); and ASCA for guidance expectations.  These professional associations are a great source of support.

I'm sure that you can find many informational articles in sports, health, music and art periodicals at their age level for student analysis and written comment.  Bullying is a big topic as well as cyber security and appropriate social media interaction.

That's where I would start.  I also searched on Facebook.  You can post questions to The National Art Education Association page, The National Association for Music Educators page, American School Counselor Association page, American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation page.  There is also Twitter and Ning.  Go to all of your Personal Learning Networks for info and support.

Hope this helps. : )

Subject: [CASL-L] special area CCSS resources

special area CCSS resources

Hello!

Can anyone help me please?   I have been asked to help elementary music, PE,  art, and the school psychologists find articles related to their specific curriculum that support the 10 CCSS Reading and Writing standards for students in grade 6. I know classroom curriculum but I do not know special area curriculums very well so I am a little overwhelmed with this task.

THANK YOU in advance to anyone who has anything to guide me!
