We are so excited to announce the launch of the Project ENABLE (Expanding Nondiscriminatory Access By Librarians Everywhere) training Web site, made possible by a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services. This comprehensive site provides information and instruction on providing effective library and information services to students with disabilities.
While the site’s main target audience is school librarians, we believe it will be a valuable resource for public and academic librarians, general and special educators, administrators, parents, and their communities. The site contains five self-paced learning modules, jam-packed with useful information in a variety of formats (text, video, photos, graphics, audio over PowerPoint and more). You will find information to read, videos to view, games to play, learning exercises to challenge you, and quizzes to assess your learning.
You can take notes along the way and save them to your profile. The site also has the option of allowing a person to register for the training as an individual or for instructors, supervisors or administrators to register their groups or classes for pre-service education or in-service learning.
Just go to http://projectenable.syr.edu/ and click on the pink Login/Register button on the top right of the screen. Registration is required to enter the Web site but use is totally free.  Once you have registered, your personal data, any notes you take or any test scores or certificates you receive will be securely stored on Your Profile and available to you at any time.
Once registered, take some time to explore the site. It will probably take more than one visit to go through all five modules but I think you’ll find it worth the time.
We hope you will let us know what you think of the site. We love to hear what you really like about the site and welcome any ideas you might have for improvement.
