Making the Case for Game-Based Learning: Why and How
Thursday, December 6 at 4pm ET
Presenters: Dan White, CEO of Filament Games, and Tammie Schrader, teacher at Cheney Middle School The learning games movement has blossomed from infancy into an awkward teen. Learning games are no longer a novelty, but they're still far from reaching mainstream status (and their full potential). As the movement gains momentum and new products hit the market, it becomes increasingly difficult to separate hyperbole from quality. The result is a complicated landscape that's difficult for educators to
navigate. Dan White and Tammie Schrader will offer guidance and inspiration for teachers who are trying to add more game-based learning to their classrooms. Leveraging a decade of experience, Dan will offer a jungle-safari-style tour of the learning games space, detailing the myriad forces (assessment, economics, competing design philosophies, etc.) that are shaping it. Tammie will then offer a best-practices-oriented, first-hand account of her experience integrating learning games into a classroom curriculum. Join Dan and Tammie to learn the why and how of game-based learning. |
