This only works if everyone in your school has a Google email address (even if it is your district email through Google).  Email addresses outside Google will not be allowed to see the detail on the calendars.  They will only see Free/Busy on the calendar – which is pretty useless.  The only way a calendar can view the detail on a Google calendar is if they are also signed in to Google.  Google changed this a few years ago, and since we are/were not a Google school at the time it made our Google calendars not as useful to our building.

Subject: [CASL-L] Google Calendar as scheduler for computer labs and carts

Good Morning Fellow Librariae,

We are now a 'Google school' and I'd like to use google calendar for signing up / displaying bookings for computer labs, carts, and resources. I want to know how some of your schools might handle using google calendar for these purposes. I want teachers to see the bookings and be able to 'book' thier own times into the calendar for these resources. But maybe to keep it orderly library staff should be the ones updating the calendar bookings.

How might you be utilizing google calendar? Best practices?

Thanks folks,

Thomas
