Last night the General Assembly passed HB 7001 - AN ACT CONCERNING DEFICIT MITIGATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2013. The Act makes reductions in allotments for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013 across all agencies. For the State Library, the reductions are:
iCONN - $ 104,730
CCAR - $ 13,788
State Library Book Budget $ 41, 400
These reductions are in addition to the $205,595 rescission announced November 28th and which I previously reported on.
Considering that on December 7th the Governor issued a “deficit mitigation roadmap” that included unspecified reductions to the State Library’s budget totaling $1,269,597, the $159,918 in reductions enacted yesterday is welcome news although it still presents us with some budget challenges. We have not had time to fully assess how we will offset the reductions, I am committed to maintaining the current iCONN offerings and CCAR service for the balance of this fiscal year.
