I started up a College and Career Collection in my library, after seeing Rachel's in East Haven last year!  I'm very happy with it.

1. Basically, I started by pulling relevant materials, and moved them to a bookcase near reference.  Surprising how many there were!

2. Weed dates copies--technology jobs from 1980's! LOL

3..  I purchased Career spine labels from Demco.

4. I found a parent volunteer who has been recataloguing them and redoing the spine labels. YAY!

5.  Replaced dated SAT, ASVAB, ACT, scholarship, and college books.

6.  Consulted with guidance, staff, and students for new purchases.

7.  Promote!

Subject: [CASL-L] Question: Guidance corner in your library?

Good  morning- I have a quick question for HS Librarians ; Does your library offer part of your space to your guidance department for a college and career corner? If no, have you been asked to? If Yes, could you provide details? For instance, who maintains it, what is kept there, how much space, what does it look like, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Kristie
