Let the Kids Be the Filter: Teaching Students to Be Discriminating Researchers
Wednesday, September 18, 2013 - 5PM Eastern Time

In This Session
The 2013 Banned Websites Awareness Day slogan is “Let the Kids be the Filter!” But they need to be taught how. This toolkit of replicable ideas will equip educators with valuable instructional resources to accomplish that, featuring lessons to help students critically evaluate their search results - distinguishing fact, from opinion, and anecdotes, using visual clues from online content to infer purpose, recognizing bias, and identifying the elements of a website that will help them learn more.
