The Division of Library Development has upcoming workshops for these LSTA grants:

Programs for Older Adults: these provide up to $5,000 to libraries to provide or enhance library programs, services, materials and collections to older adults who have difficulty accessing traditional library services or extend lifelong learning programs to older adults. Collection development projects without a strong program piece will not be considered. More information: Programs for Older Adults

Services to Persons with Disabilities: these provide up to $5,000 to libraries to provide or enhance library programs, services, materials, collections, software, and/or equipment to persons of all ages who have difficulty accessing traditional library services and their families and caregivers. The special needs addressed by these programs may be physical, developmental, emotional or learning disabilities. Grants may include (but are not limited to) the purchase of equipment and/or software that makes information content accessible to persons with disabilities. Library staff training in disability awareness and sensitivity is an important component of these grants. Projects lacking a strong program component will not be considered. More information: Services to Persons with Disabilities

Every Child Ready to Read: these provide $3,000 (with 25% match requirement) to aid libraries in projects that introduce and/or extend the use of the Every Child Ready to Read,(ECRR) program developed by the American Library Association’s Association of Library Service to Children. More information: Every Child Ready to Read

Attending one informational grant-writing session is required in order for a library to submit an application for each grant in any category. The workshop will cover all three grants in one session.

The next session will be February 25, 2014, 12:30 to 4:30pm, at the Willimantic Library Service Center.
