Hello fellow school librarians!

This message comes to you as a means of gathering interest in the idea of establishing a roundtable for high school librarians in the Fairfield County/Greater Danbury area. I know some of these meetings go on throughout the state (many of which are sponsored by the CT Library Consortium, which I have also contacted for sponsorship/assistance and for a list of member libraries) but that they are often held at locations that are a bit too far away for some of us to attend.

With so much going on in both education and in the library world today, it is more important than ever that we work together to pool our intellectual resources and learn from each other's experiences. As a solo librarian at my high school, meeting with a group of educators who share my interests, successes, and struggles is especially appealing. I am an active member of online PLC communities including Twitter and edweb.net and I learn a great deal from these resources, but even in today's technology-rich virtual world, nothing can compare to collaborating and learning from colleagues in the real world.

Please let me know if you would be interested in participating in this roundtable for secondary librarians in the greater Danbury area. I know this is a busy time of year (and unpredictable as well with all of this snow!), so I am thinking that it would be best to plan this roundtable meeting for spring--perhaps April would work? I would be happy to host this meeting at my school library if that would work for others, but I am certainly open to using other spaces as well. I love visiting other school libraries since it always gives me new ideas for my own space!

I hope to be in touch with you soon with further information and possible meeting dates/times. Feel free to let me know your specific needs and/or interests in your email reply or contact me via phone as well. I look forward to chatting with you!

Thank you so much,

~Jess
