Simmons College and The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art are pleased to announce Fall 2014 course offerings. Classes are for candidates in the four graduate programs in children's literature offered at The Carle, as well as for non-degree students. The classes, held weekday evenings, begin in September and are held at The Museum's Amherst location.  For registration information, please contact

The classes are:
 
The Picturebook
explores picture books and their histories in detail.
 
Contemporary Realistic Fiction
examines the adolescent's quest for a sense of self as she or he must struggle to affirm identity in ever-expanding Joycian circles of influence.  
 
Writing for Children
investigates the process of writing fiction for children through written assignments and class discussion.

Simmons Graduate Course Catalog. Those interested in the program are encouraged to attend an information session at The Carle from 12:00 to 1:30 on July 16 or August 5. To register visit the Simmons website.
