Debate and understanding Rebecca T. Miller, Editor-in-Chief As SLJ prepares to head to Cuyahoga County Public Library in Ohio next month for our daylong early learning event, we’re steeped in the questions the day will explore, including where tech fits into the first years. For one: Are ebooks better than print for these young minds? In SLJ’s second Up for Debate forum, two sides weigh in on this hot topic, and we look forward to your feedback, too. Meanwhile, our thoughts are with those in Ferguson, Missouri, where, among other effects of the unrest, administrators have delayed the first day of school. To help gain perspective from this traumatic time, SLJ’s editors offer resources for understanding protest, nonviolent resistance, and civil rights.
