Hello,
Last school year our middle school had the pleasure of hosting Nutmeg nominated author Tim Green. He was the most dynamic and personable author we have ever had, so we decided to invite him back to speak again on October 14, 2015. His sports themed books are widely read and enjoyed by both boys and girls in grades 4 - 8 and both he and his wife Illyssa (who takes care of his scheduling) are wonderful to work with. One of the things that was special about his presentation, is that he took the time afterwards to speak with each student who wanted a book autographed, and he brought along autographed football cards for those who did not have a book, but wanted an autograph.
If you are interested in booking him for your school for October 13, the afternoon of the 14th, or the 15th, please contact Illyssa Green at: greensonthelake@yahoo.com. If you have any questions about his presentations, I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Here is additional information about the author and his visits quoted from Illyssa:
HI ,
Tim Green, is a best-selling author with a series of sports-based novels for middle grade readers. His books have excited boys and girls alike, sports fans and non-sports fans because of their suspenseful pacing and moral conflicts. Still, people may be most excited about the impact he has on young boys who are reluctant readers. Not a day goes by when he doesn't hear from kids with stories about how they weren't readers, but now are because of Tim's books. This is partly why he has sold over a million copies in the series, and his latest, UNSTOPPABLE, went to #2 on the NY Times list. Like many authors in this genre, Tim spends a significant amount of time doing school presentations varying in range from 3rd-8th grade. He has spoken at over 800 schools and reached over a quarter of a million students from Maine to Florida, New York to Texas and California, and almost every state in between. The thing that differentiates Tim from most other authors is that he uses the speaking fees he earns to buy books that he gives away to schools, libraries, and students who otherwise can't afford them. Often times the money a school pays him is used entirely to buy books for its own students. Sometimes schools will share the wealth of books with another school less fortunate in their area. With the wealthier schools, Tim will use their money to buy books for a list of schools he knows needs them from his extensive travels. Tim also Skypes with schools from all over. Skyping with Tim requires a school to purchase $500 of his books for its students to read and then discuss during these 40 minute sessions. Skyping is a nice alternative for schools in far off locations or who have limited budgets and/or a smaller group they'd like to interact with Tim.

Tim's presentations cost 2,000 dollars and last about an hour. He likes to speak to as many students as possible, often entire schools of over a thousand students. His message is quite unique in that as a former eight year NFL veteran and first round draft choice, Tim is a staunch advocate for the importance of education and character OVER sports. While he describes some of the thrills of being a pro athlete and the rigorous exercise it takes to get to the NFL, he informs kids that exercise for their brains -to educate themselves as high and far as they possibly can- and heart -to build character and be a true success- is reading books. He then goes on to describe his job as an author to make reading entertainment, something fast and engaging with good guy and girl characters taking them into a time and place that's thrilling and new.

Regards,

Illyssa Green
