Hi there!

My school (K-5) is currently reevaluating the role of our school's media specialist.  Our administrator is hoping that our media specialist can begin collaborating with classroom teachers and begin using a co-teaching model to deliver lessons.  I'd love the opportunity to pick your brains on just a few topics surrounding collaboration.

1.)  How much time does your media specialist spend planning with teachers? Is this done on a weekly/biweekly schedule (or less often)? When during the day do these meetings take place?  Is this time usually requested by classroom teachers or does the MS need to actively seek out grade levels during their own planning time?

2.) How do schools get teachers to "buy-in" to this collaborative model?  We want this time to be useful and helpful - are there ways to make sure teachers are seeking out the media specialist for support?

Any other words of wisdom to share would be greatly appreciated! Thank so much in advance!

Have a great school year!
