About Amy: Amy Greer is currently working on her dissertation to complete her doctorate in Library and Information Science at Simmons College. Previously, Amy served as the Deputy Field Director for the ‘Smiley for Mayor’ campaign in Providence, RI. She also served as the Youth Services Coordinator at Providence Community Library where her goal was to ensure that the community library was an active partner in the community - meeting needs, solving problems, and contributing new ideas. In founding Human Library Rhode Island, Amy, along with her amazing team, created the first statewide Human Library effort in the US, bringing together people from all walks of life to speak on a human level.

1:00 PM-Customer Service Pt. 2: 10 Easy Ways to Ruin Your Library's Reputation

Rebekkah Smith Aldrich will discuss the importance of connecting with your community to determine their priorities, values, hopes and dreams; how customer service (in person, on the phone and online) wins the public's vote everyday; how to align the library's "voice" using word-of-mouth marketing techniques; how to avoid creating a library "insider's club" that makes it difficult for new people to get involved with your library; publicity/display/signage basics; how to build your base of support online; and how to embrace trying new things. 

About Rebekkah: Rebekkah Smith Aldrich is the owner of Sustainable Libraries, LLC and has been a public library development consultant since 1998. Rebekkah currently holds the position of Coordinator for Library Sustainability at the Mid-Hudson Library System in New York where she assists 66 public libraries in the areas of governance, management, funding and facilities. Rebekkah is a certified Sustainable Building Advisor (NaSBA), Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and a holds an advanced certificate in Public Library Administration from the Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University. Named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker in 2010, Rebekkah is a frequent presenter at libraries and conferences around the US.
