Hi Melissa,
One of the reasons I wrote my books was to help school librarians, such as you,  write a mission statement.

Caveat:  I have found that it is the vision statement and related action plans that drives change, not the mission statement.
I recently retired from Joel Barlow High School.  This is the mission statement I help write:

The mission of the library media center is to develop students who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate the sea of information.

Thus, we will provide conditions that foster:

Good luck.

Hello,

I am currently in the ARCLMS certification program in Hamden and am relatively new to this community. I have found it to be very helpful and informative! At present, I am a classroom teacher of 4/5/6 Social Studies and am in the process of creating a school library from scratch:)

I am hoping that some of you would share your library mission statements with me. My district is working on ours, and I am curious to see some that are already in existence.

Thanks!!
