Val,

Watertown high school did a summer reading selfie on Twitter this past summer. I guess your students are largely under the age of 13 and shouldn't have twitters so an alternative may be to have photos emailed to a Flickr album.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Val,
We asked families to post pictures of the children reading over Christmas brae and they posted in a padlet wall.

We run a Book Fest program at my school. One component is that teachers choose books and students sign up to join teachers' book clubs (optional). The program has been phenomenally successful thanks to all involved. Some of the teachers go away together over Spring Break. Today a couple of this group mentioned that they all pull out their book club books at night and read. (Yes, these ARE the COOL teachers!). Got me thinking that it would be fun to have students and teachers share photos of themselves reading their book club books over Spring Recess. Photos would come in from all over the world! What's a platform that would be simple and easy for this activity? Instagram????

I don't have an instagram account, but know it's easy to set up. My question for all of you is--would I be opening up a can of worms if I opened up an instagram for this endeavor? Thoughts?

I suppose it would be safer to simply have students/teachers email me their photos.

Much appreciated,
~Val
