Rachel,

I weeded very heavily and re-purposed bookcases elsewhere.  I still have a lot of nonfiction that does not really circulate at all. I'm considering another deep weed. I've replaced some with eLibrary, SIRS, Science News and Blooms, Modern World History and Issues and Controversies in Amer History. It seems to be sufficient. Print material I am targeting for SS, with ebook and print or print and database bundles.  No one has looked for anything that has been weeded. When I look for new material, I look for curriculum alignment.

So far, so good.

Hi all,

I am in the process of once again examining our collection as we move to restructure a very large media center space to meet the changing needs of our students in the 21st century.

I have a question: how many of you have dispersed, heavily weeded or interfiled your reference collection so that ALL the books in the Dewey classification are in the same area?

If you have made such a move, have you had any feedback from students or teachers, good or bad? Anecdotal evidence to support or dissuade?
