The camera model is: Canon (It's one "n", sorry, I spelled it wrong in the last email;-) Vixia HF R500 and the mircrophones are Sennheiser MKE 400. I would have to research to see if there are any models left like the Flip.

Thank You!

Hi John,

I like the flip-out action of Flip and other pocket cameras because it is easy for students to get the video off of the camera without needing any cables or card readers.  However, I do have a few full-size cameras, too, that I lend mostly to teachers.  I’m interested in what model Vixia you have.  My Sony cameras don’t allow for an external mic and I really need that.

Thanks,

I just bought two Cannon Vixia video cameras that work amazing. My kids use them for making PSA to show on our school TV station, promo pieces, and projects that teachers have them working on that require this kind of outcome. I used B and H as my vendor, and although, these cameras are a bit more expensive, the things the students can produce with them are amazing. I also bought tripods, really nice microphones that attach to the cameras and a green screen (I had a little extra money this year), but money well spent. I will let teachers take out the camera, but the students are usually realeased to me to work with the cameras and various projects they are constructing. Hope this helps!

I, too, am trying to replace Flip cameras as they wear out.  I bought two cameras last year, but the flip-out USB is kind of rickety.  I tried to look them up at B & H but they don’t even sell them anymore.  I did find this one that I may try…

Could you please tell me if your library provides video equipment to students to film projects?  We had a number of flip cameras that we give out to students but those have worn out.  Looking for alternatives.  I know students could use their phones, but I am hoping for a different choice.  Thank you!!
