Subject: [Conntech] Tips for using library advocay tools - now is the time
Thanks Jen,
If anyone is short of ideas on how to use these great tools, I'm forwarding the email with tips that we shared with CLC members today.
  1. CONTACT  your own legislators by letter, email, or phone. Don't wait for someone else!
» CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR THROUGH CLA'S CAPWIZ
      » GET TALKING POINTS (CLA)
» GET LETTER WRITING TIPS (CLC)

  2. KNOW what your library's CLC savings are. If you had to spend that much more for the same materials/services next year, what would you cut?
» CONTACT US for detailed savings figures, or
» GET YOUR TOTAL SAVINGS NOW

  3. INSERT the official CLA legislative bookmark in every item you check out and ILL.
      » DOWNLOAD THE BOOKMARK

  4. TALK to your board, Friends, stakeholders, and key community groups and encourage them to take action. (See links under #1)

  5. POST CLA's new flyer everywhere - at the circ desk, by the coffee maker, in the program room, and in any other noticeable location. Distribute it around your community as well.
» DOWNLOAD THE FLYER (blue background)
» DOWNLOAD THE FLYER (white background)

  6. ATTEND the rally on Wednesday 4/15, 12-1pm, LOB Room 2A - and encourage patrons to attend as well.
      » RALLY TIPS & INFO

  7. USE your website and all of your social media channels to get your message out. Include the hashtag #FundCTLibraries in all of your posts. Start by sharing this video!

Still have questions? Need more background?
Thank you for your support. Please contact me with your ideas and suggestions.

On behalf of CLA, I am sending the following attachments:

-       A newly created infographic that can be printed out and distributed (with a white background), and also a version that can be posted online (blue background) to help promote our advocacy message. Many thanks to Chris Ciemniewski for creating these for CLA!

-       As requested, a revised bookmark in PDF form - the back has been updated with specific details on how the proposed cuts would impact library users.

Thanks to everyone for getting the message out!
Jennifer Datum
