10:00 AM-Basic Book Repair: Tools & Techniques (Willimantic Library Service Center)

This hands-on workshop is appropriate for a library staff member or volunteer who will be doing book repair. Emphasis will be on simple repairs for the everyday public or school library collection, rather than on archival or long-term preservation techniques.

9:00 AM-Publisher Projects for Youth Services - Pt. 1 - Publisher Basics (Avon Public Library)
In this class, students will learn the basic elements of the Microsoft Publisher 2010 environment. Topics will include text, images, borders, and other design elements. This class is for librarians with little to no MS Publisher Experience.

9:00 AM-Publisher Projects for Youth Services - Pt. 2 - Projects
(Avon Public Library)
In this class, students will alter templates and design publications from scratch to create flyers and projects for library programs. The class is open to everyone, but the emphasis will be on materials for children's and teen services. For this class, students must have basic MS Publisher Experience or training (see Pt. 1 - Publisher Basics 7/23/2015 at 9:00am).

1:00 PM-The Basics of MarcEdit
This three-hour class will focus on the free MARC record editing program MarcEdit. Would you like to know the basics of how to use it to do bibliographic record clean-up? Do you have repetitive database maintenance tasks you perform on catalog records that you'd like to automate? This workshop will show you how to get started. This will be an introductory session, appropriate for either cataloging librarians or technical services staff with copy-cataloging experience with no prior experience with MarcEdit.
