Dear Librarians:

Hello. My name is Shannon Oltmann and I am an assistant professor in the library science program at the School of Information Science at the University of Kentucky. I am writing to you because I am interested in school media specialists’ perspectives on collecting materials with a GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender) theme. I am studying this issue in multiple states, including Connecticut.

I am interested in a diverse array of perspectives, opinions, and selection decisions. Whether or not your school media center contains GLBT-related materials, I would greatly value learning about your perspective.

I would like to interview you about this topic. The interview could be done via telephone or Skype, whichever is more convenient for you. It can be done at a day and time that works best for you. I think the interview would last 20-35 minutes.

If you are interested in talking about this topic with me, please contact me at shannon.oltmann@uky.edu or 859-257-0788 (my office phone number). If you have any questions or concerns about this research, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Shannon Oltmann
