Hi
Everyone,
Banned
Books Week will be observed September 27-October 3, 2015 with AASL’s Banned
Websites Awareness Day occurring on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Are you ready? Have you made plans to
celebrate the freedom to read and search online?
Yesterday there was a blog about the latest
issue of Knowledge Quest; it’s an
intellectual freedom-themed issue with two articles by school librarians, a
superintendent, and a school board member who faced and worked through book
challenges. The author of the report “Fencing Out Knowledge: Impacts of the CIPA
10 Years Later” also describes the report for KQ readers. Check out this blog
with the bonus of links to 3 online exclusive KQ articles at http://knowledgequest.aasl.org/renew-support-intellectual-freedom-septoct-2015-issue/
If you subscribe to AASL’s KQ Blog,
you will have seen these blogs posted over the past two weeks. If you have not
as yet subscribed to the KQ Blog, I urge you to do so. Nearly every day, there’s
practical and thoughtful posts sharing information you can use. Check
out the KQ Blog and sign up for email alerts when new blogs are posted and their
direct link.
