Hello Aimee and all,
An area you may not immediately think of is that of financial literacy. I just participated in an FDIC training class for financial education Wednesday and there are programs for all age groups. There are CT Saves partners of ours at
the State Library, including some local banks who have done school assemblies, programs for individual classrooms, etc. for the kids. The programs can be customized to your needs.
These programs can be really fun and interactive for the students and make an impact on them for their future. I have a child in the 7th grade and would love for him to have a program like this at the school. My elementary school
child as well. The curriculum also can align with state standards.
Here is a link re: the training

And here is a link for educators:

I am happy to talk one on one with any of you about financial literacy in the schools.

Subject: [CASL-L] enrichment program for 7th grade
Good Morning,
My PTO is interested in providing an enrichment program to the 7th graders in my school. Other than Author Visits, has anyone had a really dynamic guest
speaker, workshop, or other such opportunity for 7th/8th graders that you’d be willing to share?
Many thanks in advance,
~Aimee Shuhart
