State Library Collections in Ancestry.com Are Back

Cross-posted; please excuse duplication. Please forward as appropriate.

Everyone:

Issues surrounding public access to Connecticut State Library Collections in Ancestry.com have been resolved, so I have restored the web button for those collections to the researchIT CT web site pages, below:

Resources for the Public

http://researchitct.org/classicpublic

Resources for High Schools

http://researchitct.org/classicschool

Resources for Colleges & Universities

http://researchitct.org/classiccollege

If you wish to add a direct link on your library’s webpage to this specific resource or to any individual researchIT CT resource, you can reference the following document:

Access to Connecticut State Library Collections in Ancestry.com now operates as follows:

Users in Connecticut within the library, school, academic institution or hospital will authenticate automatically by IP address. If any of you finds that to be untrue for your institution, please reply to me directly.

Users outside of the above institutions will land in a login screen, where they will be required to enter their valid Connecticut public library card numbers.

After authenticating to the Collections page, users can search the collections. In order to access individual records, a personal account with Ancestry.com is required. First-time users will see a Create an Account screen that will require they enter their first name, last name, e-mail address, and password (that they create). On all subsequent visits, those users will need to login with their username or e-mail, and their chosen password to access individual records; the signin tab appears near the upper right hand corner of the screen in a black banner. There is no charge to create nor to use this account.

As always, your questions are welcomed.

Sincerely,

Eric Hansen | Electronic Resources Coordinator | Eric.A.Hansen@ct.gov |Office: (860) 704-2224
