Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to share some resources on Student Data Privacy. As many of you know, the new
state law on Student Data Privacy takes effect October 1. It’s likely that you’ve had conversations with your administrators about the changes and the way this impacts what technology we use and how we use it with our students. Schools are developing new
guidelines for adoption of technology tools that must adhere to the new law. As edtech leaders in your buildings I’m sure you will be an important part of working toward improving practices around student data privacy. I’m going to be presenting on a panel
with the new state affiliate for COSN (CTETL) at the CECA/CASL conference in October. Please stop by or check out our table for additional resources. I’m including a link to the Student Data Privacy Toolkit provided by the state. Our work and support is needed
to help our districts comply with the new law. As early tech adopters, I see library media specialists playing a significant role in supporting schools with these new changes. Looking forward to seeing you in October!
