Dear Colleagues,
Join us for a Leadershop at Jack Jackter Intermediate School, Colchester, CT: STEAM, STORIES & the MAKER'S MOVEMENT on February 9th, 9:00AM -3:30PM.
This Leadershop will feature an overview of the HOT Schools Program, an introduction to HOT Strategies including Production companies (also known as ECHOs), HOT Blocks and whole school residencies. Observe an arts integrated "HOT" lesson, and enjoy a Q & A panel with teachers, administrators and students. The afternoon will feature a workshop led by Jackter's Library Media specialist and will focus on the student as storyteller. Through the integration of the arts into the research process, teachers can inspire students to tell the story of their learning. Participants will:*Gain an understanding of new technology tools to provide student choice during their research process.
*Design an arts integrated inquiry project, developing questions and a direction for research. (Resources and guidance will be provided every step of the way!)
*Gain an understanding of how to facilitate student research projects using Barb Stripling's Model of Inquiry.
*Leave with an understanding of the MAKER movement, STEAM initiatives and how their school library (librarian) can be used as a collaborative partner and resource during inquiry based research.
Thanks
The HOT Schools Team
