AASL’s National Conference features a general session speaker for every interest. The conference kicks off Thursday morning with a focus on technology with Google’s Chief Education Evangelist Jaime Casap. On Friday, get a jump on the new AASL Standards with the AASL Standards and Guidelines Editorial Board and Implementation Task Force, who will provide a much-needed overview of the new standards. Finally, the conference wraps up on Saturday with critically acclaimed author Jason Reynolds.

Pre-Order the New AASL Standards


AASL’s new National School Library Standards will be officially unveiled at the AASL National Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix. Those looking to get their hands on the standards early, can do so in one of two ways:
  1. Register for a Pre-Conference Workshop or the ESLS Research Symposium. Attendees who register for any of the Preconference Workshops and/or the ESLS Research Symposium will receive the standards publication. The standards are included in the registration fee for these events.
  2. Pre-order the standards during registration. Attendees not attending the preconference sessions can pre-purchase the standards when they register for the conference. The standards will be available for pick up at the registration desk in Phoenix.

Enhance Your Skills with Concurrent Sessions


The AASL National Conference features more than 120 concurrent sessions to help school librarians and educators take their skills to the next level. The sessions cover the latest in school librarianship and education. Strands include:

  • Teaching and Learning  
In addition, each concurrent timeslot will feature a session on the new AASL Standards, as well as an author session.

Authorpalooza features authors every 15 minutes doing readings or answering questions about their books, with author signings after every timeslot. Social Media Contest during National Conference

Each day during national conference the AASL Social Media Editorial Board and a group of volunteers will be looking for #aasl17-tagged social media posts that are the most informative, most entertaining and/or funniest, best picture, best selfie, best session notes, and most creative group photo.
The prize? Bragging rights! Posts will be featured on the Knowledge Quest website and the KQ Conference Edition e-newsletter, and each selected recipient will receive a sticker and digital badge to show off their accomplishment.
