We have one Chromebook cart dedicated to student use while in the media center. The student sign them out themselves, first and last name and number on the Chromebook. They put them back in the cart at the end of the period. I was concerned it wouldn’t work and we would lose chrome books but we didn’t. It took a couple weeks of standing near the cart at the start and end of the period to explain the process but now it’s basically self-serve.

Subject: [CASL-L] check-out system for library laptops?
Hello,
Our school is considering replacing standing Chrome box stations in the media center with Chrome books in carts. Does anyone else use laptops like this in a high school media center? Do you check them in & out to students each period? If so, how do you manage that each period? Any ideas/suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks!
