Hi everyone,
Please excuse my cross postings. It's the time of year when I solicit
and collect happy stories about services that the Division of Library
Development (DLD) provides so as to pass them along to the institution
that funds a lot of them, the Institute of Museum and Library Services
(www.imls.gov), in Connecticut’s state program report.
I invite everyone to share with me any stories or anecdotes that they
have about the people, services, and/or materials they've received from
the Middletown or Willimantic Library Service Centers, the folks at
iCONN.org, and the Division generally.
I’m looking most for stories about how our materials, programs, and
services have had an impact on your patrons through your libraries. Is
there a child or senior who is particularly grateful to receive the
materials you get from the service centers? Such as the large print
collections, the children’s materials, the summer reading program, the
audio titles? Perhaps the books CD or MP3 made an impact in your
community and have helped you out budget-wise?
Of course, it’s hard to overlook the wonderful librarians and staff
of the Division. I hear a lot of great stories when I go to meetings
and roundtables about all of the people in DLD, including at the Service
Centers, Ccar, and iCONN. But I need them in print for this report.
Whatever you would like to share I'll gratefully include - if you feel
like gushing, maybe the holiday spirit is within you and you’d like to
let it out, now is the time, don't hold back. All of last year’s
thoughtful, generous comments went into the state's annual report and
put some human faces on what is otherwise a drab, bureaucratic report.
Please respond to me off-list within the next week or so (before
December 15th), and thank you in advance.
