Don't miss these exciting roundtable meeting for January: 

 

CLC's Snow Policy (except where noted):

If school is delayed in the town hosting the event, the event will go on as
scheduled. If school is cancelled in the host town, the event will be
postponed to the snow date.

 

Children's Librarians' Roundtable: Capitol Region meeting that was
originally scheduled for January 7 has been CANCELLED. They meet next on
February 11.  

 

Children's Librarians' Roundtable: Northwest

Chair: Martie Smolka, Gunn Memorial Library, Washington

 

Your colleagues are meeting on Monday, January 7 at Woodbury Library next.
Topic for discussions will be staffing concerns in Children/YA Departments
and job descriptions. (Snowdate: Jan. 14th.)  All meetings will have coffee,
tea and refreshments provided at 9:30 with the meeting to begin at 10:00. In
the event of snow, check with the hosting library's school system for
cancellations (in which we will cancel) or delays (in which we will delay
the meeting to 11:00). Refer to Region #14 schools for cancellations and
delays.

 

Young Adult Librarians' Roundtable: Capitol Region

Ann Marie Naples, West Hartford Public Library

 

YALR-CR meets next on Tuesday, January 8 at the Raymond Library in East
Hartford to discuss censorship and sensitive materials for teens. Would you
like to co-chair this roundtable? Please contact Ann Marie Naples. Unless
otherwise stated, all meetings begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Coffee, etc. will
be served. 

 

 

Young Adult Librarians' Roundtable: Eastern CT

Chair: vacant

 

Meet with your colleagues next on Friday, January 11 from 10:00 a.m. to noon
at the Canterbury Public Library. (Snow date: January 18) In anticipation of
Teen Tech Week in March, the topic will be Computers and Gaming. 

 

Would you like to chair this roundtable? Please contact Linda Williams at
lwilliams at cslib.org. This roundtable meets every other month on the second
Friday of the month at alternating times - 10am-noon or 1-3pm. Libraries
will volunteer to host the meetings, and the hosting library will provide
refreshments. Each meeting will have a predetermined topic for discussion or

Young Adult Librarians' Roundtable: Western CT

Chairs: Margaret Walsh, Greenwich and Geri Diorio, Ridgefield Library

 

Join your colleagues on Wednesday, January 23 when they meet next at the
Wilton Library (snow date: 1/30). Unless otherwise stated, all meetings are
on Wednesdays and feature coffee & networking at 9:30, program from 10:00 to
noon.

 

 

Audio Visual Librarians' Roundtable

Chair: Gail Thompson-Allen, Russell Library, Middletown. 

 

Looking for a machine to fix up those scratched CDs or DVDs? If so, join
your colleagues for the AV Roundtable when it meets on Wednesday, January 23
at 1:00 pm at the Russell Library in Middletown. Representatives from
VenMill Industries, Inc. will be on hand to demo their latest machines that
clean, fix and polish various types of discs. The Skip-Away, for example, is
a DVD, CD, Game Disc & HD-DVD repair for everyone! It fixes scratched discs
found in homes, libraries, or wherever optical media is available.

Also to speak is CLC's Pattie Noren. She will talk about the fantastic media
and supplies discounts available to member libraries, including some
discounts through Baker & Taylor on VenMill machines.

 

Anything else on your mind regarding AV issues? Share them with your
colleagues in this forum and generate topics for future roundtables! We hope
to see you there. 

 

Children's Librarians' Roundtable: South

Chair: Sue Hartley, Cheshire Public Library

 

Please circle Monday, January 28 on your calendar and save the date for a
Children's Summer Reading Program Showcase! Mid-winter is the perfect time
to think warm and start planning this summer's activities. The Showcase will
be held at the Cheshire Public Library. Many more details to follow! Do you
have a performer you'd like to see or can recommend? Please email
dzulick at ctlibrarians.org your suggestion.
