[Conntech] Policy Questions

Hi -
Our Library Board is interested in "policy information" regarding
salary ranges and benefits that I have not seen described in
WebJunction files, State Library Statistical Information, etc.:
         1. What triggers a revision of your salary ranges? Are the
ranges adjusted annually or at some other interval? Are they changed
in response to the cost of living (by which index?) or some other
factor? We are not looking for information about how an individual
moves through the range; just about the ranges themselves.

         2. What determines the relationship between the ranges? Is
there a pre-determined interval between job levels? Between MLS and
non-MLS positions?

         3. What happens when an individual reaches the top of the range?

         4. If your vacation policy reaches a maximum over twenty
days per year, what are the steps to reaching the maximum?

         5. Given the long tenure of many library employees (which
can bring them to the maximum vacation allowance relatively early in
a career), is there any provision for adding to vacation earned once
the maximum is reached? Does anyone use a "sick leave conversion" policy?

         6. Does anyone have a written policy regarding "donation" of
sick leave to a coworker in cases of grave illness?

Please respond off-list; I'll compile results to share.
Thanks for your assistance!
Mary Etter
