POSTED ON BEHALF CLA YA SECTION CO-CHAIRS, ANN MARIE NAPLES & KAITE BUNN:

Please register for this fantastic CLA event by November 7th.

The YA Section of the Connecticut Library Association is pleased to host
well-known YA author Chris Crutcher, Tuesday, November 13, 2007. All are
welcome to attend. The all-day program will be held at the Canton Public
Library, 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton, CT.

Crutcher is among the most respected American authors of young adult
literature, and is the recipient of numerous awards. These awards include
ALA 's Best Books for Young Adults; ALAN Award for significant contributions
to young adult literature; and the ALA Margaret A. Edwards Award for
lifetime achievement in writing books for teens. Prior to writing books for
teens, Crutcher was a child and family therapist and the director of an
alternative school. Crutcher is a controversial figure, whose books have
been frequently censored and even banned. He is a staunch advocate for the
freedom to read, and speaks frequently on censorship.
