(please excuse cross-posting)

The Connecticut Library Association is pleased to thank all 19 members
of the Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee of the
Appropriations Committee, and several other key legislators (Senators
Paul Doyle, Thomas Gaffey, and Donald Williams) for their support of
increased funding for the following statewide library programs during
the last session of the General Assembly:
*	The Connecticard program, from $976,028 in FY2007 to $1,226,028
in FY2008
*	The Connecticut Library Consortium, from $300,000 in FY2007 to
$350,000 in FY2008
*	InfoAnytime, with new funding of $150,000 in FY2008
*	iCONN, from $1,894,322 in FY2007 to $2,067,485 in FY2008.

The CLA Legislative Committee has therefore scheduled a reception to
honor all 22 of these legislators at Capital Community College in
Hartford (whose Library Director, Carl Antonucci, is also the President
of CLA this year) on Wednesday, November 7, at 4:00 PM, in the Walter
Markiewicz Community Room on the 2nd floor (turn left as you exit the
elevator).

Free parking is available in the Morgan Street Garage across Market
Street from the college entrance. Bring your parking ticket to the
reception to be validated. Directions to the college and the Morgan
Street Garage can be found by clicking on this link:

We hope to see many of you there next Wednesday. In the meantime,
please offer these legislators your own congratulations and thanks for
their ongoing support of Connecticut's libraries.
