"Healthy Websites: How to Find Quality Consumer Health Information on
the Internet"  to be presented by Healthnet: Connecticut Consumer Health
Information Network of the University of Connecticut Health Center
Library Tuesday October 16, 2007 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Middletown
Library Service Center.

 

Demonstration of some of the best online resources available to answer
specific consumer health questions and guidelines for evaluating the
quality of health websites.

Opportunity to learn about and use websites with information about
diseases, medical tests, medical procedures, medications, herbal
products, clinical research trials, quality ratings for physicians,
hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Learn how to obtain
assistance with your library's consumer health questions from librarians
at the University of Connecticut Health Center Library. The program is
free. Registration is required.

"Medical Reference Tools and Techniques" to be presented by Healthnet:
Connecticut Consumer Health Information Network of the University of
Connecticut Health Center Library Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 9
a.m. to noon at the Middletown Library Service Center.

 

Introductory workshop for public librarians who provide medical
information to health consumers. The program will include guidelines for
providing medical information to library users with personal health
questions, techniques for answering consumer health questions, and
review of important medical information resources-print and online.
Explanation of policies and procedures for referring consumer health
questions to Healthnet and obtaining assistance with your library's
consumer health questions from librarians at the University of
Connecticut Health Center Library. The program is free. Registration is
required.
