Do you know that the IRS and many other senior service agencies
including AARP Tax-Aide are working together in an outreach effort to
notify those individuals, who do not otherwise have to file a 2007
federal income tax return, that they must file a 2007 federal tax form
by October 15, 2008 to receive the stimulus payment. IRS has estimated
that 230,000 individuals in Connecticut will need to file a tax return. 
 
Attached are three colored flyers that can be posted in the library. If
you have a news letter. please include a note about the program in the
next issue.
 
The third flyer provides information in regard to a tool that an
individual or a loved one can use to prepare a federal 1040A paper tax
return that is mailed to the IRS. The tool requires that a printer and a
computer with on-line capabilities be available. You can access the tool
at www.aarp.org/stimulushelp. Perhaps your library can make computers
and a printer available for this purpose.
