The Fairfield Public Library invites the library community and the
general public to join us for two Technology Topics seminars this month.
 
What is Web 2.0?  on Thursday, April 24, 7-8:30 pm. will feature John
Blyberg, Head of Technology and Digital Initiatives at Darien Library,
as his discusses the power of blogs, wikis, RSS feeds, and other
internet technology that is changing the way the world communicates.
John is nationally recognized for his work in this field, and was
selected by Library Journal as one of their 2006 "Movers & Shakers."

Google Book Search on Monday, April 28, 7-8:30 pm, will feature Dr. Mona
Garcia demonstrating the power of digital book databases Google Book
Search, Internet Archive: Text Archive, and Live Search Books. History
is just a mouse click away when using these databases to access the
full-text of thousands of books with topics ranging from classic works
of literature and the American Civil War to rare books on your
community's history.  Dr. Garcia has taught European history at the
college level, and is currently on staff at the Fairfield Public Library
as a reference librarian. She has presented papers at academic
conferences in the U.S. and Great Britain, and has publications in her
field of English history, one of which has been included in the Royal
Historical Society Bibliography.
