Hi, everyone. Although it's too bad that Robert Berkman has had a
personal emergency that prevents him from coming to the CLA
Conference as planned, he has furnished us with a super
replacement. Cliff Landis is flying in from Georgia. He's presented
at the Internet Librarian Conference in Monterey and the Computers in
Libraries Conference this past year. His time slot for the following
will be the same as that for Robert Berkman: Monday, April 28th,
from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thanks. Best, Michelle
It's All About the User: Libraries, Technology & the Future
By Cliff Landis
Web 2.0 has given library users the ability to connect with each
other in new and innovative ways. As the Web evolves towards Web 3.0,
4.0 and beyond, libraries need to be prepared to use these
technologies to offer outstanding user-centered services. In this
session, Cliff Landis will explain the connections between 2.0
technologies, offer best practices for choosing tools, and
demonstrate the emerging technologies that will impact the library of
the future.
Cliff Landis is Assistant Professor and Technology Librarian at
Valdosta State University, Valdosta, Georgia. He is known for
speaking on the connections between libraries, technology, and
user-centered services. Cliff has published articles and book
chapters on these and other topics, and can be found blogging at
http://clifflandis.net/.
Session Length: 1.5 hours
Session Requirements: Laptop and projection. Internet connection.
Lapel microphone preferred.
