This is a no-brainer to answer - Ralph Nader spoke about his book THE SEVENTEEN TRADITIONS last October, commenting that it's the only book he's ever written that everybody loves!!!

Of course he opened with remarks about the importance of libraries since his local public library played a major role in his childhood - and has left a lasting appreciation.
 
Nader's personality and sense of humor really emerged as he spoke about his Lebanese-born parents and the values they passed to their four highly successful children. Rather than brag and suggest that everyone be like his parents (although that wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion), he encouraged the audience to write down and pass along their own family traditions to future generations - noting that watching screens (TV, internet, games)  is diminishing the unique characteristics that every family has.
 
During the Q&A, two people stood up and thanked him for the seatbelts that saved their lives - in separate accidents.  What an experience - it gave you the chills!!! 
 
 Photos below.  The other programs pictured are from the Youth Services Dept. (I had trouble cutting and pasting only Nader's off the website.)  Paul Bisnette is head of our Youth Services Dept.
 
He came for free.  Since he is interested in people writing about their traditions, at the end of the program, I gave him a copy of my Dad's book GROWING UP ITALIAN AND AMERICAN in Waterbury.
 
Our Lebanese-American mayor presented him with a paperweight with the Republian-American building (formerly the railroad station) on it - which turned out to be a perfect gift since the trains that Nader had taken from Winsted to NYC  to see the Yankees play passed through the Waterbury station!
