The second biennial Legislative Breakfast Reception will be held in the Executive Dining Room next to the cafeteria of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford on Wed., March 5 from 8:00 - 9:30 am. At 8:45 a.m there will be a brief presentation of CLA's legislative agenda, focusing on the Connecticut Library Consortium.
The Governor's budget includes a $50,000 reduction in the CLC budget, from $350,000 in FY2008 (this year) to $300,000 in FY2009. All other lines, including InfoAnytime and public library construction funding, remain the same as this year. Invitations were sent out to all 187 legislators, but it is especially important that our message is heard by the 55 members of the Appropriations Committee, whose names and the towns they represent are listed below. If your legislator is on this committee, please make a special effort to invite them to the breakfast. Perhaps if they are not available that morning they could designate a staff person to represent them.
There is no fee for you or your legislator to attend, but please register by calling the CLA Office at 860-346-2444. Reservations must be received at the CLA office by Monday, March 3.
This event is co-sponsored by CLA, the Friends of Connecticut Libraries the Association of Connecticut Library Boards.
