The Connecticut State Library, Division of Library Development, presents:
Dreamweaver 8 Part 1 & Part 2
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 is a powerful web design software that allows beginners to create professional looking web sites. It is a combination visual web page layout tool (WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get editor) and HTML text editor (hand coding) This two- day workshop is intended to be taken in order. The topics covered in part 2 will build on the topics covered in part 2. PLEASE NOTE:: We will be using Dreamweaver 8 during these session (NOT Dreamweaver MX 2004 or Dreamweaver MX)
Prerequisites: Experience using the Web and a Windows based computer. No web development experience required, but it is certainly helpful. Those with experience will have time during the class to explore additional Dreamweaver options and features.
Part 1 topics include:
Overview of Dreamweaver 8 screens and menus
Setting up a website in Dreamweaver 8
Basic text editing
Creating links
Working with graphics
Tables for data presentation and page layout
Part 2 topics include:
Using tables for page layout
Creating templates and library items to simplify maintenance of your site
Introduction to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
Creating forms for gathering feedback.
Your instructor is Polly-Alida Farrington, President of PA Farrington Associates, a consulting firm specializing in internet training and website development. Before forming her own training and consulting firm in 1997, Polly was a librarian at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for 17 years, working in Reference, Government Documents, ILL and Automation. You will be mailed an invoice for the workshop. Please include a copy of the invoice with your payment. Checks must be made payable to the Connecticut State Library and sent to: Fiscal Services, Connecticut State Library, 231 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106. IMPORTANT NOTE: Cancellations require 72 hour notice (3 business days, excluding weekends & holidays) or you will be invoiced. (Attendee will automatically be placed on a waiting list if they miss 3 events in 6 months that require 72 hour cancellation notice.)
