[Conntech] Do libraries in CT offer Notary Public services?

We have seven Notaries on staff here and last year, we notarized 379 items for 278 people. The library pays a bonus of $250 the week before Christmas to our Notaries.

"Do you have a Notary?" has been a common question at every library I've worked at. Like David, I had always thought of banks and town halls as the places to go for Notary services (UPS stores often have them, too), but plenty of people think of the library. It's a nice service to offer to people who already trust the library and as David points out, the longer hours of the library make for a win-win.

When I think of Notary Public services and where they are offered, I first think of banks, town halls, and title offices.



Having libraries offer notary services (especially during the evening after 5pm) might be a win-win situation for libraries and patrons as banks, etc. are closed.  This could be yet another way to get patrons who don't typically visit the library in the door.



Just out of curiosity, does your library have a Notary on staff?
