Social Software: Using Technology to Manage Your World
Social software" is the buzzword of the moment, but what can it really do? In this hands-on workshop we will look at a variety of social software applications that you can use to organize information from the web. From creating your own custom search engine to putting your book collection online, we will explore software that keeps you organized, even on the go. We will also look at ways you can leverage the software to help your users find quality content quickly and create their own libraries on the go.
Who should attend? Public service librarians, webmasters, and anyone who wants to harness the powers of social software to organize their world.
Your instructor, Erin Logsdon is the Digital Solutions Consultant for NELINET providing consulting and education services in digital solutions for libraries. She has an MS in Educational Media from Portland State University and an MLIS from Simmons College. Erin began her library career as an elementary school librarian and has worked in a variety of library settings. Her interests and expertise include taxonomy, usability, project management, Web 2.0 technologies and metadata.
