Review Boolean search options, limiters, and quotes. Narrow your searching to specific languages, files and even websites. Test some well-known Google techniques to make this site locate, calculate, and deliver information to your patrons!

RSS: the ABCs of Really Simple Syndication - July 9th (MLSC)
RSS is an XML format for sharing information on the web and allowing your patrons to keep current with any changes on your site. In this half day workshop we will learn how it works, what libraries are using it, and how it can benefit your library. We will also learn how to go about adding a feed to your library's web site. We will be creating the feed in XML / HTML.

Speak Up! Speak Out! Effective Presentation Skills for Everyone - July 14th (MLSC)
Whether presenting a budget to the finance committee, or talking at a staff meeting, good presentation skills help promote a professional image for the entire library. Yet speaking in front of an audience can be a terrifying experience. This half-day workshop covers techniques for developing and presenting a speech, and includes tips and exercises for overcoming the nervousness associated with public speaking.

Tip Top Training Techniques - July 14th (MLSC)
Libraries are constantly changing software, adding new software, and upgrading hardware and software. New staff members need to learn the library's software. This half day workshop covers techniques and theory of training and incorporates audience participation through exercises and discussion. Topics include the structure of a training session, handouts, learning styles, methods of presentation, and how to provide an atmosphere conducive to learning.

Your Library's Cyber Security: Inside and Out - July 15th (WLSC)
This full-day workshop will cover how to probe your library's computers and networks for weaknesses, focusing on how to protect those computers/networks and plug any security holes. This workshop will not cover security policies, password selection/use, or security administration and management for specific servers or networks.
