Thank you to the many of you who shared your thoughts and your own
experiences on this. Some of you asked me to let you know how it turned
out. Somehow we survived the month and the display will be coming down
today, without real incident, and for that I'm grateful. Several of you
told me not to take it down under any circumstances, as this might be seen
as a violation of the first amendment, and that the media would take the
side of protecting first amendment rights. I responded to the patron's
complaint with compassion and understanding, and told her we would be
removing the display at the end of the month as scheduled. There were one or
two other complaints but nothing unusual.

I looked at our display guidelines and learned that they need to be
rewritten. I feel fortunate that we did not have major issues with this
exhibit and very glad we decided to keep the exhibit up. As always, you
came through with sage advice, and this was definitely a learning
opportunity for me! Thank you again.
