[Conntech] Organizing of DVD's

Hi,
About a year ago I posted a similar question to CONNTECH. We had kept our DVD collection behind the Circ Desk but that system was very labor intensive in both processing and at the circ desk. We decided to use One-Time brand magnetic locking cases. The price for the locking cases was about $1.00 per case, ordered in bulk of course. (from the manufacturer Clear-Vu, www.clear-vu.com). The price may have gone up, I don't know the current price. I think that most library and DVD vendors offer One-Time cases also. I also know that there is another brand of magnetic locking case that is pretty much identical to the One-Time case, but I don't know its name.
We order DVDs from Midwest Tape. We order them processed so we get a locking case, labeling on the sleeve, and a donut label on the DVD. They come in almost shelf ready, most only need a barcode. This processing isn't cheap (about $3.00 per DVD) but made sense for us.
We really like the locking cases. They've speeded things up tremendously in Tech Processing and at the Circ Desk. They have one downside, the plastic hub that secures the DVD sometimes breaks. Please email me if you have further questions.

We too have experienced theft of our DVDs (no particular area). We really don't want to have to keep them behind the Circ desk. Has anyone had any experience with locking cases? If so, would you please tell me what kind, what brand, where purchased and price.
Thank you.
Peggy

Subject: [Conntech] Organizing of DVD's
Recently a few of our series DVD's have been stolen. I don't know why this particular area has been targeted. I would like to know who keeps their DVD's behind the circulation desk or elsewhere and if so how are they organized. We are thinking about moving our series to start with but are unsure of how to store them; we have a very small circ area. Has anyone else experienced a particular area of DVD's that seems to go missing over another? Thank you for the help.
