Welcome to the USA. How May I Help You?
When a recent immigrant to the US comes to your library how do you help
them? If they have questions about the immigration or citizenship
process, what resources can you give them? Ethan Enzer, Field Office
Director, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will give
us an overview of the immigration and citizenship process so that we
will be better able to help immigrants using our libraries.
We will also discuss programs and resources that Connecticut libraries
are currently offering immigrants.
Finally, we will have a demonstration of Illinois’ Polytalk program
of volunteer interpreters and their multilingual language kits followed
by a discussion of how Connecticut libraries might participate. For a
preview of the Polytalk program visit: http://www.polytalk.info/.
